Dézafi

is now in the bookstore. It is a beautiful book; the image on the cover is from a painting by Frankétienne, the author. Although it was written in 1975, in Haitian Kreyòl, the English translation just came out and I have not read it yet myself. Not usually best practice when planning a course! But it seemed like too serendipitous an opportunity to pass up. So I shall be discovering it alongside the rest of you. Flipping through, it looks to be très poétique, but do not be daunted. Go with the flow and let meaning emerge, blog about it—particularly if you have questions—and we will sift through it together in class.
